Our Fair Honoree
Sharon Olsen has dedicated her life to supporting yourth. She has been a Snohomish Coutny 4-H Leader for 27 years, actively assisting the members of the dog program to fulfill their goals. She has been a strong role model for community involvement and helping others benefit by showing them how to take an active role. The 4-H members assume this role from day one, continuing long after they move beyond the program.
Being involved with the Community is something Sharon has always put as a high priority to the 4-H members. They have made it a requirement to be involved in a minimum of four (4) Community Service projects a year before participating in the Fair. The members, in turn, have stepped up to this challenge and have often been known to strive way beyond, accomplishing as many as ten (10) Community Service projects each year.

One parent shared that Sharon helped build self esteem in her daughter. "She made her feel like she could accomplish thing and now she does so with
Sharon has been the 4-H Dog Superintendent at the Evergreen State Fair for the past 13 years. Challenges abound as she has to schedule participants to fit their capabilities, the benching display accommodations, and keeping the program even throughout the entire two weeks of Fair. She is also responsible to maintain safety for the public and 4-H members during the entire time. Through her efforts, Sharon motivates the public to ask how they can join 4-H and her 4-H members to say " I can't wait until next Fair". These young adults are excited because Sharon works hard to make it fun!!!
